Contemporary Classics

Rooted in tradition, inspired by life’s beauty

My Contemporary Classics style is a joyful tribute to the tangible beauty of our world - the glow of landscapes in shifting light, the poetry of flowers, and the warmth of stories preserved in old photographs. These works spring from real places, heartfelt memories, and emotions that linger. They blend timeless techniques with a fresh, contemporary vision, celebrating harmony, colour, and the quiet magic of everyday life.

My fascination with beauty began while studying philosophy - especially ancient thought and aesthetics - where I explored how we see and feel beauty in the world around us. That curiosity found its home on canvas, allowing me to reimagine classical forms with my own modern, life-affirming touch.

A Personal Journey

Still Life with Flowers, 1991. - my first still life oil painting

I began painting as a teenager, creating small oil still lifes of flowers in vases - framed by my father’s hands. Some found their way as gifts, others as early sales, but all became part of my artistic roots.

When I moved to Luxembourg in 2008, I returned to painting with renewed passion - first by recreating works of Monet, Klimt, Van Gogh, and Gauguin to understand their mastery, then by developing my own style, shaped by my photography, travels, and lived experiences.

Landscapes

Inspired by the character and soul of the Slovak and Luxembourgish countryside, my landscapes capture texture, light, and seasonal rhythms. While these two places remain at the heart of my inspiration, I also paint from travels and moments in other places dear to me. Each scene is a personal encounter with nature - a way of preserving its fleeting beauty.

Flowers in Vases

Each floral painting begins in my parents’ garden, where many blooms are grown just for me. I hand-pick, arrange, and photograph them before bringing them to life on canvas - a gentle collaboration between nature, family, and art.

Bringing the Past to Life

In this heartfelt series, I transform black-and-white family photographs into vibrant oil paintings. Each is paired with the original image and its story. Through colour, detail, and care, I breathe warmth and presence back into these moments - celebrating heritage, love, and the beauty of human connection.
